Jon Eldridge is a freelance journalist with an interest in environmental issues and financial services. 

He has focused on the Commission-supported sustainable energy initiatives and LIFE environment projects, and has covered energy issues from an EU perspective for ICIS news. He has also followed initiatives to implement the EU’s conservation directives and has contributed to the newsletter on Natura 2000, the Commission’s project to create a network of protected areas.

Jon currently is the editor of Europe Connect, the monthly newsletter of the Million Dollar Round Table, a membership organisation for top-level insurance and financial services firms. (He also is the English-language editor of the Quarterly Bulletin of banking group, Unico, and has written for the European Banking Federation and ING.) He was for three years the editor of the quarterly publication of the American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium. He is also a regular sub-editor for the Economist group weekly EU newspaper, European Voice.

Jon’s hobbies include travel and football. He has written travel articles for The Wall Street Journal Europe and Redhot, among other publications, and contributed to the TimeOut Guide to Brussels. He has written match reports for his local football team, 11-time Belgian football league champions, Union St. Gilloise.
